Hello! We are the High Voltage Couch Bananas , and we compete in STEM competitions through FIRST Tech Challenge, or FTC. We are a Non-Profit 501c3 from Eagle, Idaho.
Our mission is to inspire, encourage, and instruct the next generation of thinkers and problem solvers. Guided by coaches, mentors, and other professionals, a team competes in an exciting multi-stage competition. There is no better way to learn than by doing, and this competition gives students an incredible hands-on method to apply their knowledge and skills to innovate and solve real-world problems. Students also make a significant effort to reach out to the underprivileged and underserved communities, as demonstrated by our recent free-of-cost STEM camp at a Title 1 school, Whittier Elementary School in Boise.
Our team will compete in tournaments with a highly sophisticated autonomous and tele-operated robot on a 12 foot by 12-foot game field. Each season revolves around a single theme that influences the game field, its obstacles, and the team’s robotic strategy.
Our team consists of students and coaches ranging in age from 12-18 years old, and attend several different schools in the Treasure Valley, and we all love learning robotics and STEM!
